BELGRADE, April 2 (Hina) - The majority of citizens advocate
independence for Serbia, according to a research of the Belgrade-
based Marten Board International centre for marketing and
research. #L#
The centre, a licensed partner of the British Market Research
Bureau from London, conducted the research in cooperation with the
Belgrade daily Blic between March 28 and April 1 on a random
stratified sample of 599 adult citizens of Serbia, excluding
Kosovo.
Sixty-five percent of Serbia's citizens think Serbia should become
an independent state, the results show. Twenty-seven percent think
Serbia should remain in some form of association with Montenegro,
while eight percent abstained from stating their opinion.
A significant 46.6 percent does not support the so-called Solana
Agreement on Serbia-Montenegro association, which has been
proposed by the European Union's high representative for the common
foreign and security policy, Javier Solana.
