"The next phase is the implementation, namely the reorganisation of
the Croatian Armed Forces, in line with the adopted laws," the prime
minister said ahead of a session of the Social Democratic Party
(SDP) presidency, commenting on talks with President Stipe Mesic
and experts groups on armed forces' reform held earlier that day.
According to Racan, the reorganisation of the armed forces should
be completed in three months or by the end of this year at the
latest. "This is in line with the plan and NATO's expectations
because we expect to join the NATO Membership Action Plan by the end
of this year, which is the final step before joining NATO," Racan
said.
At the SDP presidency session Milan Bandic is expected to inform the
present of yesterday's decision of the SDP city branch that the
coalition with the Croatian People's Party is meaningless.
