Racan met his Rumanian counterpart Adrian Nastase on Monday, ahead
of a two-day summit of the Vilnius Group (V-10), an informal
organisation of countries aspiring for entry into NATO.
"There are no outstanding issues between Croatia and Rumania. State
and political relations are very good, and there is a very high
degree of understanding and cooperation on the international
plan," because the two countries share the same strategic goals,
entry into NATO and EU, Racan told a news conference after the talks
with Nastase.
"We concluded that economic our relations are lagging behind and
that we should stimulate them," he said.
The Rumanian premier advocated that the two countries sign an
agreement on free trade as soon as possible. He voiced Rumania's
support to Croatia's entry into the Central European Free Trade
Agreement (CEFTA), Racan informed reporters.
Croatia should be accessing CEFTA this May.
Speaking about the summit of the V-10, of which Croatia has been
full member since last May, Racan said both Rumania and Croatia
wished to contribute to the stabilisation of the region.
