BELGRADE, March 9 (Hina) - The Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) on Friday demanded from the Serbian television to withdraw a decision on discontinuing live broadcast of the trial against Slobodan Milosevic before the International
Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). The Serbian Radio-Television decided to discontinue broadcast of the trial as of Monday for "financial reasons." In a letter to director of the Serbian Television, SPS Vice President Mirko Marijanovic said "all measures of civil disobedience and pressure" will be undertaken to continue direct broadcast of the trial. Slobodan Milosevic is still the SPS president. Marijanovic said broadcast of the trial was discontinued because the ruling coalition of the Democratic Opposition of Serbia "fears Milosevic even though he is in prison in The Hague."
