MOSTAR, March 4 (Hina) - The president of the Croat National
Congress of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ante Jelavic, on Monday said
parties in the Congress would "ask for a more radical change of the
structure of the state (BH) with a request for the establishment of
a third federal unit."
Jelavic said this at a session of the presidency of the Croat
National Congress held on the occasion of the first anniversary of
an interim Croat self-government.
A year ago, the Croat National Congress, which gathers the Croatian
Democratic Party (HDZ) and similar parties, at a session in the
southern Bosnian town of Mostar adopted a platform for democratic
and self sustained Bosnia-Herzegovina.
In spring 2001, High Representative Wolfgang Petritsch relieved
Jelavic of all ten offices and banned him from political
activities.
An investigation into Jelavic started before the Sarajevo County
Court soon after he was charged with jeopardising Bosnia's
territorial integrity.
Jelavic said today the establishment of "the third federal unit" in
Bosnia would be requested "institutionally", that is, through the
parliament.
"A consistent implementation of the Bosnian Constitutional Court's
decision on the three peoples being constituents in both entities
would mean the end of the asymmetrical state, that is, the end of the
Republika Srpska as the biggest obstacle to the self sustained
Bosnia, and the solving of the Croat national issue," said Jelavic
advocating the consistent implementation of the Constitutional
court decision.
