OSIJEK, March 4 (Hina) - The Osijek County state prosecutor's office on Monday pressed charges against Milos Loncar, 42, of Jagodnjak, for war crimes against humanity. According to the indictment, as commander of an artillery platoon
of the so-called territorial defence of the Baranja region, Loncar between September 1991 and May 1992 ordered artillery attacks on Osijek and its suburbs Josipovac and Visnjevac, despite knowing there were no army but only civilian facilities there. A large number of civilians were killed in those attacks, many were seriously or lightly injured, and the damage to the civilian buildings was huge. Loncar has been in the custody of the Osijek county prison since last September.(hina) ha
