ZAGREB, March 1 (Hina) - The Croatian Union of Rail Workers on Friday announced a strike of warning, to be held between 10am and 1pm on March 14. Railway transport and works on rail construction sites will not be discontinued during
the strike. The strike will be staged in protest of delays in collective bargaining. The union demands a 10-20% rise in the price of the working hour of highly skilled workers. According to the union leader Ivan Forgac, a graduated engineer in some HZ departments has a salary of 3,000 kuna, while the average salary of HZ workers amounts to around 3,200 kuna. The union also demands defining long-term relations between the HZ and seven companies for subsidiary activities, which have been established as independent units in the process of HZ's restructuring and which employ 1,500 workers. Those companies were promised favourable contracts in a transitional period of three

competition, however, the HZ management has been refusing to
consider the contracts, Forgac said.
