ZAGREB MAYOR ZAGREB, Feb 28 (Hina) - Vlasta Pavic was elected Zagreb mayor on Thursday with a majority vote of the City Assembly. Thirty councillors from the Croatian People's Party (HNS) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) voted
for, 17 from the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the Croatian True Revival (HIP) voted against, while the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) councillor abstained. Pavic was previously relieved of duty as deputy mayor in charge of social affairs. Morana Palikovic Gruden, who was deputy mayor in charge of economy, was relieved of duty as well. Members of the city administration were relieved of duty also, so that city problems will be dealt with by the heads of municipal offices. The new mayor, a member of the SDP, should propose before the City Assembly the composition of the new city administration within a month's time.(hina) sb rml
