ZAGREB, Feb 20 (Hina) - The parliament's Committee on Gender Equality on Wednesday supported a request by the association for women's rights B.a.B.e for the suspension of three Croatian army officers suspected of sexually abusing
female members of the 16th artillery brigade in Bjelovar. B.a.B.e. representatives today held talks in parliament with Committee chairwoman Gordana Sobol and Bjelovar mayor Djurdja Adlesic. They agreed that an objective investigation cannot be expected without the suspension of the suspects, particularly given the fact that the suspects may exert psychological pressure on the women as they meet them on a daily basis. The abused women, who complained about the case in a letter to the Defence Minister, the President of State, the Parliament Speaker and the Prime Minister, have been offered help and the necessary legal assistance by the association.
