CROATIAN HARMONY FORUM ANNOUNCES FIRST CONVENTION

ZAGREB Feb 12 (Hina) - The Croatian Harmony Forum - an association for dialogue, tolerance and unity, on Tuesday announced its first convention at which it will present its programme and work goals. At the convention, to be held on February 14, the Forum will recommend the establishment of regulations which will prevent revanchism after a change of authority after elections, the Forum's president, Davorin Rudolf, announced at a press conference. The Forum will suggest that the Croatian parliament establish the list of senior state officials who are to leave their seats after the elections, so as to avoid an unfair dismissal of those who are not officials but are sympathisers of the conquered political side, Rudolf said. He announced the Forum would advocate changes to the electoral system, that is, the direct election of mayors. He recalled that the Forum was a non-governmental political association, founded last October, which advocated a stable, civil, democratic, European future for Croatia. "We are not fishing for power, but, as intellectuals, want to contribute to making it better for all of us," Rudolf said. Forum members include many senior officials of the former authorities.
