SARAJEVO/BANJA LUKA, Feb 7 (Hina) - The Bosnian Serb government has
given a 30-day deadline to all persons in this entity who have been
indicted by the UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague to turn
themselves in, otherwise it will not provide guarantees for them to
defend themselves in freedom.
A decision to that effect will be applied strictly, Sinisa
Djordjevic, the head of the Republic of Srpska (RS) government's
office for cooperation with the UN tribunal, told the Banja Luka
daily Nezavisne Novine of Thursday.
He said that Dusan Fustar, who recently surrendered to the tribunal
without the knowledge of the Banja Luka authorities, would not be
given guarantees to defend himself in freedom, nor would anyone not
trusting the government.
Fustar's surrender was organised by his attorney, which Djordjevic
claims "has undermined the reputation of the republic's
institutions."
Djordjevic accused the opposition's parties of persuading "behind
the RS government's back" the accused to turn themselves in
bypassing the valid law on cooperation with the International
Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.
