ZAGREB, Jan 29 (Hina) - The benches of the Opposition and the ruling coalition's Social Liberals (HSLS) announced in parliament on Tuesday they would not endorse the draft financial plans of two budgetary funds - for reconstruction
and employment, and regional development - worth 3.7 billion kuna (EUR490.7 million). The MPs object the most to the fact that despite the government's claims that this year's budget would be transparent, the draft financial plans fail to elaborate on specific programmes, projects and criteria for the allocation of funds. Ivan Suker of the strongest opposition party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), said the reason for the establishment of the funds was a fictitious reduction of the state budget aimed at meeting the demands of the International Monetary Fund.(hina) ha sb
