LJUBLJANA, Jan 28 (Hina) - Several Slovene cisterns carrying oil
continue waiting at the Orasje border crossing for the cancellation
of a ban on oil import by roads from Croatia passed by the Council of
Ministers of Bosnia-Herzegovina last week.
Slovenia believes the main problem is a Croatian decree on
introducing corridors for the transport of hazardous substances
and stricter customs control. Slovenia requests that the regime on
the transit of oil products be restored to the one prior to January
16.
Coordinating bodies are holding meetings at the Slovene Foreign
Ministry with the state secretary, Iztok Simoniti. It is expected
the counter-measures against the Croatian transporters through
Slovenia would not intensify until further notice, apart from those
already implemented. These are, according to the Slovene Radio, the
intensified eco control of Croatian transport vehicles and their
weighing at border crossings.
Simoniti last week announced that apart from complaints about the
Croatian decree (corridors and stricter customs control) which it
forwarded to the World Trade Organisation and the secretariat of
the Lisbon eco charter in Brussels, Slovenia managed an "entire
palette" of possible concrete counter-measures which may be
implemented as regards the development of the situation concerning
the transit of Slovene cisterns with oil on the way to Bosnia and
other states of south-eastern Europe via Croatia.
