ZAGREB, Jan 28 (Hina) - Parliament's Constitution, Rule Book and Political System Committee decided on Monday to allocate 27.4 million kuna (EUR3.63 million) from the state budget for the work of parliamentary parties this year. Under
the decision, the parties get an annual 180,721 kuna per male MP and 198,793 kuna per female MP. The higher amount set for women is due to the fact that they are a poorly represented gender. The majority of the funds, 8.4 million kuna, goes to the strongest ruling coalition party, the Social Democrats, which has 45 MPs, including 17 women. The strongest opposition party, the Croatian Democratic Union, with 41 MPs of whom eight women, follows with 7.5 million kuna. The parties have been requested to submit reports on how they spent the budgetary funds last year.(hina) ha sb
