ZAGREB, Jan 18 (Hina) - A former assistant defence minister, Marinko Kresic, on Friday dismissed accusations that he had been issuing and signing fake certificates for veterans and invalids of the Homeland War, assessing he was
subjected to political and media lynch. Kresic claims he found out from the media about criminal charges for the abuse of his office and power, filed by the military police criminal department with the State Prosecution, it was said in a defence ministry's report. Defence Ministry spokesman Dusan Viro said Kresic has issued 58 certificates granting the status of a Croatian veteran, of which 43 were allegedly illegal, further of which 19 persons used this privilege for importing personal vehicles without custom fees and taxes.
