ZAGREB, Jan 14 (Hina) - Croatia's War Veterans Ministry on Monday
held a special session on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of
Croatia's international recognition. "Croatia would not have been
internationally recognised had it not been for the war veterans and
their struggle for the defence of the Homeland," said Minister
Ivica Pancic.

Military ordinary Monsignor. Juraj Jezerinac said that by
recognising Croatia on Jan. 13, 1992, the Holy See had extended a
friendly hand.
The president of the Disabled War Veterans' Association, Djuro
Decak, agreed there would have been no international recognition
without the veterans. "The state should provide the veterans who
defended the Homeland with adequate care, which is not really the
case," he said, speaking on behalf of several Homeland War
associations.
A delegation of the War Veterans Ministry and the associations was
today received by the apostolic nuncio to Croatia, Monsignor Giulio
Einaudi. Minister Pancic and Decak presented him with a letter of
gratitude for everything the Holy See has done for Croatia and an
appeal that the letter be forwarded to the Pope.
Earlier today the representatives of the ministry and the
associations visited the Mirogoj cemetery, laying wreaths by the
central cross on the War Veterans Lane, the crematorium, and the
grave of the first Croatian President, Franjo Tudjman.
