ZAGREB, Dec 19 (Hina) - Persons with the highest degree of
disability participating in the first convention of 100% disabled
Croatian military invalids on Wednesday urged the adoption of
amendments to the new Law on the Rights of Croatian Homeland War
Veterans and warned about their problems. Attending the
convention, which was held in Zagreb, was also Croatian Veterans'
Minister Ivica Pancic.
War invalids demanded making cuts in funds that are being allocated
"to the aggressor upon return to Croatia", as well as in the
pensions of former and current officials.
Advocating their rights, the participants in the convention said
they were aware of the difficult economic situation, but stressed
they could not accept the fact that war invalids with the highest
disability degree were being the ones economised on.
Pancic stressed that, taking into consideration all objections, he
would try to amend possible mistakes in the new Law on the Rights of
Croatian Homeland War Veterans by the spring, and establish minimum
funds which could make it possible for the victims of war to have a
relatively normal life in line with Croatia's economic potential.
