ZAGREB, Jan 10 (Hina) - Parliament Deputy Speaker Mato Arlovic and Austrian Ambassador Hans Knittel on Thursday discussed a law on compensation for property confiscated during the Yugoslav communist regime and further parliamentary
procedure concerning the law, the parliament said in a statement. Property restitution claims will be considered only if they are in line with accepted international agreements. Under the Croatian Constitution, international agreements are above national laws and laws which are adopted must be in line with those agreements, Arlovic said, stressing Croatia did not support changes to international agreements. The Constitutional Court has granted the parliament an extension of the deadline for the adjustment of the Law on Compensation for Confiscated Property to its (the Constitutional Court's) decisions until June 2002.
