ZAGREB, Dec 13 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Thursday resumed
its 18th session with a discussion about bills on the government and
the organisation and scope of work of the ministries and state
administration organisations.
The bill on changes to the government adjusts the Law on the
Government to constitutional regulations.
Under the bill, the government's mandate would start on the day it
is given a vote of confidence in the parliament and not on the day of
its appointment as is the case currently.
The Premier would submit his resignation to the parliament and not
the President of the Republic. A minister's resignation would be
considered by the Premier, and would have to bear the
countersignature of the Parliament Speaker, who must inform the
parliament about it.
The bill on changes to the organisation and scope of work of the
ministries abolishes the state administration for water and
transfers its duties to the Ministry of Public Works,
Reconstruction and Construction. Land consolidation activities
are transferred from the Justice Ministry to the Ministry of
Agriculture and Forestry.
A new deputy, Social Liberal (HSLS) Zeljko Dragovic, took an oath
before the parliament today. Dragovic is to replace his colleague
Andro Vlahusic, who was recently appointed Health Minister.
