ZAGREB, Dec 30 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Tuesday
issued a New Year's message wishing that 2004 be a year of initiative

to developed European Union countries.#L#
"On behalf of the Croatian government and my own, I wish all Croats
living in and outside Croatia, as well as all citizens, a happy and
successful New Year," the PM said in the message.
Croatia is entering 2004 after parliamentary elections at which
Croatian voters have turned a new page in the country's history. The
time ahead will be used to perform the tasks which the voters
recognised and gave us the mandate to perform quickly and efficiently,
Sanader said.
"We have to protect and promote basic national and state interests,
join the European Union and NATO, as well as transform Croatia into a
modern and prosperous country, a country of a more dignified and
better life for the Croat people and all citizens. We will not be
dealing with the past, we will build a safer and better life for the
future. We shall overcome the challenges before us together, as we did
in much harder times," said Sanader, among other things.
