WASHINGTON/NEW YORK, Dec 30 (Hina) - The U.N. Security Council's Sanctions Committee has put the non-governmental organisation "Vazir" from Bosnia-Herzegovina and its representative on its list of subjects against which it can impose sanctions due to their connections with Al-Q'aida, the U.N. stated on Monday.#L# The non-governmental organisation "Vazir" from the central Bosnian town of Travnik and its representative Safet Durguti were put on the list of persons and entities linked to Al Q'aida. Durguti, 36, was born in Orahovica, Kosovo, but his nationality is unknown. This decision of the United Nations was requested by the United States and Saudi Arabia. The USA said in its request that Vazir was only a new name for a branch office of the Saudi Arabian humanitarian organisation Al Haramain, previously based in Sarajevo, which changed its name and moved to Travnik after the U.N. put it on its list of organisations linked to Al-Qaida and imposed sanctions against it in March 2002. Durguti opened "Vazir" in August 2003 in the same office where Al Haramain used to operate, after he registered it with the authorities of Central Bosnia Canton as an association for sports, culture and education. The Security Council binds all UN member-countries not to allow subjects under sanctions to enter the country, to block their assets, and prevent them from supplying themselves with weapons.
