BELGRADE, Dec 5 (Hina) - If former Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) General Pavle Strugar, who has been indicted by the UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague (ICTY), fails to appear before the tribunal on Friday, this will jeopardise all
guarantees that Serbia and Montenegro will offer to the ICTY in the future, Serbia-Montenegro Foreign Minister and chairman of the national Council for cooperation with the ICTY Goran Svilanovic said. The ICTY on Thursday asked Serbia-Montenegro's government to transfer Strugar to the Scheveningen detention centre today so that his trial could begin on December 9. According to Podgorica-based daily Publika, Strugar's defence attorney Goran Rodic claims that Strugar is in hospital waiting for surgery and that he cannot appear before the ICTY. Radic informed the ICTY of his client's condition on Thursday, requesting that the hearing be postponed.(hina) it sb
