Talking to reporters in Sarajevo, Robertson voiced hope the new
Croatian government would prove that it was non-nationalist and
pro-European.
Robertson arrived in the Bosnian capital after a brief trip to
Belgrade.
Responding to a question from the media as to whether the
strengthening of the right-wing in the region would destabilise the
situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, he said he did not think it would
happen, but pointed out that a nationalist revival in any country of
the region would prove fatal, primarily for that country's
citizens.
Robertson said that he was saying in Sarajevo what he said in
Belgrade and would say if he was in Zagreb, i.e. that there is a
direct link between extremism, nationalism, and poverty. Not one
form of nationalism has brought prosperity to the common people, he
warned.
