Sanader said he was especially pleased that Djurdja Adlesic and
Ivan Cehok of the HSLS and Vesna Skare-Ozbolt of the DC had put in
writing their support to him as a potential premier-designate.
He recalled that the potential premier-designate had to present the
head of state with enough signatures of MPs supporting him, and
added that his party's deputies were putting their support in
writing as well.
As for the potential coalition with the HSLS and the DC, which has
been accepted in principle, Sanader said talks would resume as soon
as the parties' bodies verified the acceptance.
HSLS leader Drazen Budisa said decisions on coalitions were made by
the party's Governing Council, and that one on the HDZ offer would
be made in 10-15 days' time.
DC leader Mate Granic congratulated the HDZ on the electoral
victory, saying the DC had wanted a change of government and that it
supported Sanader as premier-designate.
