Addressing an election rally in Slavonski Brod, Tomcic said that
his party would accept "a government of competent experts", but not
a government exclusively made up of "politicians and amateurs".
Tomcic said that the fact that Croatia's EU entry bid was placed at
the bottom of the HSS's election platform did not mean that the
issue was least important to the party.
"We just want to be responsible. If we remain economically
undeveloped (...) and unless we run responsible national,
demographic and welfare policies, Croatia will not even be given an
opportunity to enter the European Union," Tomcic said.
