Speaking at an election rally in the eastern town of Osijek, Tomcic
said the HSS had "an integral plan for the national economy" by
means of which in a short period of time it would "raise the level of
employment by 2.5 per cent annually, reduce the foreign and
internal debt, and raise the development rate to between 7.5 and 9
per cent".
He said that the five basic points of his party's platform were:
high economic development rates, removal of obstacles to
development, introduction of modern technologies, a responsible
welfare and demographic policy, and entry into the European Union.
