SIBENIK ACQUITS WAR CRIMES INDICTEE SIBENIK, Oct 28 (Hina) - The County Court in Sibenik on Tuesday acquitted a former Yugoslav People's Army Lieutenant, Ivica Jelusic from Kotor Varos (Bosnia-Herzegovina), who was indicted for war
crimes against injured and sick persons. Jelusic was acquitted because the Supreme Court has quashed the 2000 verdict which sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
SIBENIK, Oct 28 (Hina) - The County Court in Sibenik on Tuesday
acquitted a former Yugoslav People's Army Lieutenant, Ivica
Jelusic from Kotor Varos (Bosnia-Herzegovina), who was indicted
for war crimes against injured and sick persons. Jelusic was
acquitted because the Supreme Court has quashed the 2000 verdict
which sentenced him to 15 years in prison. #L#
Jelusic was indicted for the killing of Marinko Kardum from Vodice
in 1991. Kardum was a member of the Sibenik Police unit for special
purposes.
In today's explanation of the verdict, judge Jadranka Biga-Milutin
said there was no sufficient evidence that Jelusic committed the
crime he was charged with.
