Presenting this year's figures, she said the annual income would
amount to US$7.9 billion -- estimated according to the Tourism
Satellite Account -- thanks to arrivals which increased by six
percent, investments, the turnover, and all ancillary activities.
Foreign tourists will realise $4.6 billion of the turnover, 500
million more than last year, and tourism will account for 22.4
percent of the gross domestic product. It is estimated the
percentage might reach 31.6 percent, or $12.1 billion, by 2013.
Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Slavko Linic said state
finances were in better order and more stable than in 2000, which he
added was a prerequisite for reducing VAT not only in tourism but in
agriculture as well.
