The head of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK), Nadan Vidosevic,
stressed the importance of events of this kind, which were held
regardless of political disputes among the two neighbours.
Vidosevic said Slovene-Croatian trade amounted to over one billion
dollars, ensuring tens of thousands of jobs both in Croatia and in
Slovenia.
Asserting that it was economic results rather than politics which
would be a decisive factor for Croatia's entry into the European
Union, he voiced satisfaction with the fact that Slovenia would
soon enter the big European family. In this way, Europe would also
be nearer to Croatia, the HGK head added.
The vice-president of the Slovene Chamber of Commerce, Cveto
Stantic, said that Croatia is the third-ranked country after
Germany and Italy according to the volume of goods which Slovenia
exported there. Besides, Slovenia is the fourth largest market for
Croatian goods.
Speaking on behalf of the meeting's organiser, the Society of the
Slovene-Croatian Friendship, its president, Bozi Dimnik, said that
there was no real conflict between the countries despite tensions.
The proof for this are unchanged bilateral contacts in all fields,
and particularly in the economy.
