coalition would unite to form "a front of prospects as the only alternative is the HDZ's front of hopelessness".
DARUVAR, Oct 25 (Hina) - Speaking at the third session of the
Liberal Party's (LS) Central Committee in Daruvar on Saturday,
party president Ivo Banac said the main question at present was
whether the parties of the centre-left coalition would unite to
form "a front of prospects as the only alternative is the HDZ's
front of hopelessness". #L#
The LS is negotiating entering a coalition with the Social
Democrats and the Croatian People's Party, Banac said, adding that
the party would run in the elections independently if the talks
failed.
Without liberal forces it will be impossible to oppose the HDZ
(Croatian Democratic Union), a party of "national dogmatism,
repression and isolation", Banac said.
He also criticised Social Liberal Party leader Drazen Budisa for
"destroying liberalism".
Banac announced the establishment of party branches in other parts
of the country, stressing that it would fight against chauvinism
and for minority rights, diversity, and European standards.
