Zagreb police removed about 100 leaflets around 1230 hours, after
being notified by the interior ministry, Zagreb police spokeswoman
Gordana Vulama said, adding that the leaflets speak of the
incumbent government in an ironic and insulting fashion.
The leaflets bear the pictures of President Stjepan Mesic,
Parliament President Zlatko Tomcic, Prime Minister Ivica Racan,
Croatian People's Party leader Vesna Pusic, and the chief
prosecutor with the Hague war crimes tribunal for the former
Yugoslavia, Carla Del Ponte, whom the anonymous author describes as
a "special guest-mentor".
At the bottom of the leaflets are two telephone numbers citizens may
call "for further information". These are numbers of public
relations offices of the government and the interior ministry.
"Police have launched an investigation to establish the authors of
the contentious leaflets," the government office said in its
statement.
