ZAGREB, Oct 9 (Hina) - An exhibition called "The Old Bridge in Mostar" will be opened in Zagreb's Mimara Museum on October 14, officials of the Embassy of Bosnia-Herzegovina in Zagreb said at a news conference on Thursday. #L# The exhibition arrives in Zagreb from Vienna and will be opened by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Bosnian Ambassador Zlatko Dizdarevic said. The exhibition will feature documents, photographs and results of an on-site research conducted before the bridge was rebuilt. The Old Bridge, which is included in the UNESCO's list of world heritage, dates back to 1566. It was destroyed by Bosnian Croat artillery in 1993. Its arch is 28.5 metres long, four metres wide, and 90 cm thick. It was built from 459 stone blocks connected by cast iron joinery. The decision to rebuild the Old Bridge was made by the president of the Mostar City Assembly and mayor of the city's eastern part, Safet Orucevic, on 1 December 1995. The then Croatian culture minister, Vesna Girardi Jurkic, sent a letter to UNESCO director Federico Mayor several days after the Old Bridge was torn down, condemning its destruction. A judge with the Hercegovina-Neretva Canton Court in Mostar, Vjekoslav Lovric, said in May last year that an investigation had been launched against three Bosnian Croat soldiers on suspicion of firing a number of shells at the bridge on 9 October 1993, after which the bridge collapsed.
