Addressing a joint press conference with the Croatian Bloc (HB)
party, Tudjman commented on Monday's visit of UN war crimes
tribunal chief prosecutor Carla Del Ponte, asking how it was
possible that she should urge General Ante Gotovina to turn himself
in to the tribunal in the name of patriotism.
"Doesn't this prove that she is putting Croatia on trial rather than
Gotovina?" he asked.
HB leader Ivic Pasalic said it was a disgrace that Del Ponte should
refer to Gotovina as a former general and call on him to demonstrate
his patriotism.
"I don't know where he is, but I hope he's in a safe place," Pasalic
said.
