HOLBROOKE SAYS SDS SHOULD BE BANNED

SARAJEVO, Oct 3 (Hina) - Richard Holbrooke, a former U.S. diplomat and one of the architects of the Dayton accords which ended the war in Bosnia, once again strongly advocated banning the Serb Democratic Party (SDS), which was founded by Radovan Karadzic.
#L# In interviews with Sarajevo's daily Dnevni Avaz and Banja Luka's Nezavisne Novine of Friday, Holbrooke said that the SDS should be banned because it was a Nazi party. Holbrooke, who is on a two-day visit to Bosnia, said he would never change his opinion of the SDS, adding he considered them Nazi who must disappear. The U.S. diplomat said he had no doubts that Karadzic was still at large because he was supported by people for the SDS whom he described as a bunch of criminals. Stressing that the SDS was the worst, Holbrooke said he did not sympathise with the other national parties either. All media in Bosnia cited Holbrooke's assessments of mistakes made in the Dayton accords -- primarily insufficient jurisdiction given to central bodies of authority in Bosnia as well as the fact that the country tolerates the existence of three armies. He advocated a radical implementation of the defence reform. (hina) it sb
