Holbrooke, who is on a private visit to Bosnia, said after talks
with members of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency that the Dayton
Agreement was the framework for peace, prosperity and hope. He
added, however, the accord was open for amendments.
Holbrooke reminded that changes to the accord had been made on
several occasions. If Bosnian citizens want changes to the Dayton
Agreement now they have an opportunity to do so, but they must reach
an agreement on their own, Holbrooke told reporters.
He arrived in Sarajevo together with former French diplomat Bernard
Kouchner. During the 1990s war in Bosnia, Holbrooke and Kouchner
worked on the establishment of peace and the solution of th
humanitarian crisis.
