PARLIAMENT ADOPTS LAW ON SETTING UP WAR VETERANS' FUND

ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - Croatia's parliament on Wednesday adopted a law which foresees the setting up of a fund for Croatian Homeland War veterans. Under the law, stocks which veterans got after the privatisation of state-owned companies will be transferred to the fund.
ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - Croatia's parliament on Wednesday adopted a law which foresees the setting up of a fund for Croatian Homeland War veterans. Under the law, stocks which veterans got after the privatisation of state-owned companies will be transferred to the fund. #L# Under the law, seven percent of stocks after the privatisation of state-owned companies, such as the INA oil company and Croatian Telecom which have already been privatised, or Croatian Television, Croatian Post, Croatian Forests, Croatian Waters, Croatian Highways and other state-owned companies which have yet to be privatised, will be transferred to the fund. The fund will manage the stocks in the interest of Homeland War veterans with the aim to advance their financial situation. Parliament also adopted a series of laws from the European Union package, including a law on the protection of copyrights and similar rights which introduces the obligation of copyright and user associations to negotiate the royalty amount. MPs also adopted amendments to a law on profit and a law on income which foresee the introduction of tax relief for research, development and education in trades and crafts and similar professions.
