BRUSSELS/ZAGREB, Sept 30 (Hina) - Foreign ministers of European Union member-states on Monday called on countries in the area of the former Yugoslavia to strengthen cooperation with the Hague-based UN war crimes tribunal (ICTY), and announced possible additional measures to be taken against persons who were harbouring fugitive indictees, wanted by the ICTY. #L# "The Council supported the unambiguous message by UN Security Council Resolution 1503 ... on the need to improve and intensify cooperation with the ICTY - in particular efforts to bring (Radovan) Karadzic, (Ratko) Mladic and (Ante) Gotovina to the ICTY," reads a section of conclusions which the EU ministerial council made yesterday in Brussels. The conclusions were released on EU web pages on Tuesday. The ministers did not rule out a possibility of taking measures against persons who were protecting those on the run. The council "took note with satisfaction of the apologies, exchanged by the Presidents of Serbia and Montenegro and of Croatia in Belgrade on 11 September 2003," and described it as "an important step towards lasting reconciliation between the countries and a good example for the region", the conclusions read.
