On the cover, the Croatian weekly announces an exclusive story as a
rebuttal of a statement by Carla del Ponte, the chief prosecutor
with the UN war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY),
who has recently again claimed that Gotovina is in Croatia.
"Gotovina is living in the European Union," the weekly says.
Pukanic writes in the latest article that six weeks ago he
officially met with a representative of the ICTY, whom he described
as one of Del Ponte's closest associates. Pukanic told him that he
met Gotovina abroad and that he knew that as soon as he went into
hiding, the retired general was neither in Croatia nor in the wider
region.
Pukanic added that it was obvious that the ICTY had believed some
other 'current sources', although the ICTY representative whom he
met promised to faithfully relay to the Chief Prosecutor what
Pukanic had told him.
In the latest article Pukanic depicted how he arranged the meeting
with Gotovina.
