On the night between Saturday and Sunday, some 80 tombstones were
toppled or damaged at the Catholic cemetery in Novi Sad. Last week,
a dozen tombstones at the same graveyard were damaged.
"To the sisterly Roman Catholic Church, Subotica diocese and the
Bishops' Conference of Serbia and Montenegro we offer words of
consolation and support, hopeful that competent municipal and
regional bodies in Novi Sad will find the perpetrators of this
horrendous uncivilised act and bring them to justice," the SPC
stated.
Novi Sad police spokesman Stevan Krstic said the police were
conducting an intensive search for as yet unknown perpetrators.
