SISAK, Sept 27 (Hina) - The vice president of the Croatian True Revival party (HIP), Nenad Ivankovic, said on Saturday that Ante Gotovina, who is wanted by the Hague war crimes tribunal, "is a victim of the official policy, notably
President Stjepan Mesic and his regime media".

Ivankovic, who wrote a book about the fugitive general, said
Gotovina was the victim of a dirty game in which Croatia had lost its
credibility in Europe and the world.
As for claims that Gotovina is harboured by the Sicilian Mafia,
Ivankovic said they were an attempt to discredit Gotovina and evade
the incumbent government's responsibility in his case.
