PRISTINA, Sept 27 (Hina) - The Kosovo government on Saturday officially urged parliament to define its position on upcoming talks between Pristina and Belgrade which should be held in Vienna in mid-October, at a proposal of the Contact Group. #L# Speaking after an extraordinary session which focused on the Group's conclusions, Prime Minister Bajram Rexhepi said his cabinet wanted the Kosovo parliament to okay the talks. He added the members of his cabinet would attend the parliamentary debate on the matter. Kosovo's political parties are not in agreement on dialogue between Kosovo, which has been under U.N. administration since the end of the war in 1999, and Belgrade, which is against Kosovo gaining independence. The talks would focus on technical issues, such as transport, energetics, and the return of about 200,000 Serbs to Kosovo. The issue of the final status of the province would not be tackled. Sources close to Kosovo's interim institutions said today the talks would take place on Oct. 14. Attending the meeting, according to U.N. civil administrator Harri Holkeri's plans, would be senior officials from international organisations, alongside top brass from Pristina and Belgrade. The European Union's high representative for external and defence policy, Javier Solana, the Union's commissioner for external affairs, Chris Patten, former NATO secretary-general George Robertson and his successor Jap de Houp Schefer are also due to attend, it has been said. The talks will be chaired by Holkeri. (hina) ha
