Croatian parliament on Thursday did not take a vote on bills on
conflict of interest and post. #L#
Parliament sources said the votes were not taken because the
government failed to submit its amendments to the bills and its
opinion on MPs' amendments.
Parliament discussed the final bills on standardisation and
metrology. Clubs of deputies supported the bills, stressing their
importance for the development of Croatia's economy and industry.
The standardisation act foresees technical adjustment of Croatia's
standards to those of the EU. It also foresees the setting up of a
national standardisation body in charge of drawing up and issuing
standards, presenting them to European institutions, and ensuring
their implementation.
The Croatian Democratic Union criticised the provisions under
which people holding managing posts in the bodies set up under this
law would be appointed by the government, stressing the importance
of the independence of such institutions.
