ZAGREB, Sept 22 (Hina) - The Croatian Justice Ministry has submitted to the government alternative draft amendments to the Penal Code, proposing that the criminal act of gossiping be renamed minor slander.

Penal Code, proposing that the criminal act of gossiping be renamed

The difference between the crimes of slander and gossiping -- or
minor slander according to the latest amendments -- is that in the
latter case the perpetrator expresses facts whose untruthfulness
cannot be established, namely the perpetrator does not know whether
the facts he reveals or relays are true or not.
Abandoning the introduction of the criminal act of gossiping is the
result of the fact that part of the public has objected to
gossiping, which is considered a "national custom", being defined
as a criminal act, considering it a ban on gossiping.
