In a letter to Bajic delivered to the media on Tuesday, Gredelj says
that making accusations against senior state officials without any
evidence, as Sanader has done, is "socially dangerous", which is
why he applauds Bajic's urging that Sanader back his claims.
However, Gredelj says the involvement of the judiciary in "inter-
party wars" is socially dangerous too. He is worried that Bajic's
move "without a precedent" might confirm claims among Croatia's
experts and public that some segments of the justice system have put
themselves in the service of the election campaign.
Gredelj says Bajic has acted selectively in this latest instance,
adding that he cannot recall the state prosecutor's office ever
reacting so promptly to accusations which are made every day via the
media without being supported by evidence.
