He said the project's sponsor in Croatia, Adriatic Pipeline
(JANAF), had still not signed a contract with competent
institutions for the study.
The Druzba Adria project envisages the transport of oil from Russia
to a terminal in the Croatian seaport of Omisalj.
Banac held a news conference following a protest rally organised by
the Omisalj-based Eko Kvarner organisation, which objects to the
Druzba Adria project but endorses Croatia's intention to proclaim
an economic zone in the Adriatic Sea.
