Explaining that section of his speech, Mesic said he did not rebuke
the central bank's governor, but only warned that the measures the
HNB had taken were good but were applied too late.
"The measures are good, but it would be better if they had been taken
earlier," Mesic told reporters after touring pavillions at the
Zageb Fair where this year's 1,700 exhibitors put on display their
goods and services.
Mesic voiced satisfaction with what he had seen on the premises of
the ZV company.
Touring the pavillion of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, which is
promoting Croatian products with the slogan "Buy Croatian", Mesic
reiterated that the Croatian economy could be recovered only if
production and export increased.
Mesic toured the pavillion of this year's partner, Bulgaria,
accompanied by Premier Simeon Saxe-Cobourg-Gotha.
Croatian President also visited exhibitions staged by Iranian
participants and businessmen from Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia-
Montenegro.
