ZAGREB, Sept 9 (Hina) - The chairman of the Ukrainian office for ethnic communities and migrations, Genady Moskal, met Croatian parliament vice-president Mate Arlovic on Tuesday for talks on the Ukrainian minority in Croatia, the parliament's public relations office said in a statement. #L# Croatia is home to 2,500 ethnic Ukrainians who are organised through ten cultural associations in several towns and villages. Their main institutions are located in the eastern town of Vukovar. Arlovic informed his guest about the rights of minority groups under the Constitutional Law on National Minorities. Based on his experience from visits to Vukovar and Slavonski Brod, Moskal praised the government's treatment of minorities. He expressed regret at the fact that there was no Ukrainian-language school, but said that was the Ukrainian minority's own fault. Moskal requested support to refurbish the Ukrainian cultural centre in Vukovar. The two officials urged strengthening the ties between the Ukrainian minority in Croatia and Ukraine, and enhancing cooperation between Croatia and Ukraine by concluding an agreement on free trade and liberalisation of the visa regime, the statement said.
