PARLIAMENTARY PARTIES REQUEST NEW ITEMS BE INCLUDED IN AGENDA

ZAGREB, Sept 3 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament started its 36th extraordinary session on Wednesday with a 15-minute break which was requested by almost all party benches, most of which had demanded inclusion of new items in the agenda. #L# Parliament President Zlatko Tomcic turned down the requests, explaining that including new items in the agenda of an extraordinary session was not possible. Damir Kajin of the Istrian Democratic Assembly requested that Foreign Minister Tonino Picula or some other government member address parliamentary deputies today or tomorrow and inform them about the recently deteriorated Croatian-Slovene relations and the possible effect of that situation on Croatia's efforts to join the EU and future business relations with Slovenia. Tomcic advised Kajin to collect a sufficient number of MPs' signatures and suggest a new extraordinary session on his and other MPs' proposals. Ivic Pasalic of the Croatian Bloc party requested that the government forward to parliament for discussion the answers to more than 4,000 questions from the EU questionnaire regarding the country's membership application. Tomcic said that he and Premier Ivica Racan had talked about ways to inform the parliament about the answers, so that at least the most important ones could be discussed. (hina) rml
