ZAGREB, Aug 25 (Hina) - A total of 10,300 job vacancies were
registered with the Croatian Employment Bureau (HZZ) in July this
year, which is a 17.3-percent drop compared to the same month last
year, the HZZ has reported. #L#
The number of registered available jobs dropped in all
qualifications categories, except for persons with two-year post-
secondary school qualifications, which increased by 15.2 percent.
The drop in registered job vacancies is the result of changes to
related legislation and is expected to continue. Under the new law
on employment mediation and the rights of unemployed persons,
employers no longer have the legal obligation to register job
vacancies with the HZZ.
According to HZZ data, 18,700 new work contracts were signed in
July, which is an increase of 8.2 percent compared to last year's
July.
