ZAGREB, July 30 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Wednesday discussed a report on budgetary revenues and expenditures in the first six months of this year, presented by Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac. #L# According to the report, 34.98 billion kuna or 46.5 percent of the planned annual revenue of 75.28 billion kuna has been raised , while expenditure accounted for 41.47 billion kuna or 47.2 percent of the projected expenditure. Crkvenac said that the Croatian economy was characterised by the continued dynamic growth of GDP of an expected five percent, the industrial production growth of six percent, and a low inflation rate, which stood at 1.3 percent in the first half of the year. In the first six months, Croatia had a high trade deficit of 23.7 billion kuna, because the import of goods had risen by 15 percent, totalling 40 billion kuna. On the other hand, exports increased by 9.7 percent compared to the same period last year, amounting to 16.3 billion kuna. Speaking of the expenditure, Crkvenac said that his ministry was analysing the situation with budget beneficiaries in order to ensure a reduction in spending so that the funds planned for 2003 would be sufficient.
